The usual operations performed during the winter months vary from the disassembly and reassembly of the propellers, the thinning and disengaging of the axes to replace the stern tubes and the shaft brackets. Propellers reconditioning, shaft lines check and assessment of the metallic parts with penetrant dye are also carried out. The constant review of the hull’s conditions is fundamental; regular inspections and visual checks with adequate equipment to determine the level of dampness help prevent the onset of issues to the hull and osmosis in the fiberglass.
